Default What about Prophecies?

So has prophecies been kicked to the curb? No more quests and such? What about our new skillz? I thought there were supposed to be 25 new skillz per character. Have they been unlocked yet?

Please reread the announcement about the new skills you speak of. They are FACTIONS skills. Prophecies is still a very viable game, however development focus has to move on to factions, and in 6 or so months it'll move on to the next chapter. Prophecies will probably get small little things like special seasonal quests, etc, but most of the development for it is done.

25 new skills per core classes in FACTIONS. 5 skills overlap with 5 skills in Prophecies only.

There will be no more large updates for Prophecies.

So do I "have" to upgrade to Factions to stay competitive in PvP?

"No" is the common answer.

But "Yes" is a more accurate answer.

People will tell you (truthfully) that the skills in the game are balanced, so the old ones are just as "good" as the last.

But in reality...Prop. Only chars will be weeded out of all organized teams. The new skills have new combos, that lead to new FoTms, and new builds.

All of which will get people without these combos avialable kicked out of the pvp world.

If you get kicked from a group because someone thinks combo A is sooo much better than combo B, it wasn't a group worth being in.

Not true at all.

If you want to stay competitive in PvP you have to grind out factions.

Tyria is past. Arenanet said they would only be working on the 'current' world map, so Tyria is done. When Chapter 3 is out, Cantha is done.

In all probability, a lot of people who passed on the original game but bought Factions (and enjoyed it), will pick up a copy of Prophecies (especially when the price drops).

ah, but dont forget, although they said there will not be any aditonal content for prophesies...

they said they will still be doing the Skill Balance thing.
meaning, that after a while, factions skills and prophesis skills will be balanced, so that means that, although the chap1 only chars will be dumped by the new FotM groups, the serious pvp'ers will probably find ways around the factions or prophesies only sets and work out how to intergrate all 3 sets.

i mean, FotM isnt ALWAYS the ONLY way to pvp...just the popular and easy way.
